After 2 years  trading as The Ethical Chef I have now stumbled upon what I see as the most perfect location:—The Mackintosh Sports Club, Roath.  It’s been right on my doorstep all this time and I have been trading at Roath’s Farmers’ Market which sits in its car park every Saturday!

The Mackintosh have been looking for someone to restart  their food sales and I’ve been looking for somewhere to base my business so the match is perfect. EthicalChef will now be based in The Mackintosh Sports Club kitchen providing the venue with a bar menu like no other and enabling a place for us to be able to develop the business in Cardiff.

As of this Friday we will be launching a soft bar menu which will  offer a selection of homemade dishes using all the local suppliers that we have been working with over the past two years on Riverside Farmers Market.

One thing that might confuse the public is that the menu does have meat on it which might surprise  a lot of our regulars who have supported our work from the beginning. So let us explain…
EthicalChef is a business that promotes Local, Seasonal, Organic and Ethical food, and up until now it has specialised in vegetarian cuisine providing the public with great meat free alternatives. This will never change! But I feel my work could be extended and The Mackintosh Sports Club is the perfect venue where we will be able to offer  an all round place to visit where whatever people choose to eat, it is all ethical. This new venture will be teaming up with local farmers John and Celia Thomas from Penrhiw Farm who will supply us with their Local, Free Range, Organic Meats.

As well as opening the bar menu, the committee at The Mackintosh gave me the go-ahead to work on turning a derelict area of land at the Community Centre into a community garden, and work has been proceeding with various enthusiastic volunteers to make  this garden into a reality. Please join our Facebook Group here to find out how to get involved.

I hope that you will come and visit us in our new kitchen soon!
