Is Vegan the only way?

So I’ve always had the idea that you can be Ethical in every way and form, as long as you make the best choices as a consumer, for instance, you MUST use Local, Organic and Ethically Traded ingredients to make that dish “Ethical,” but I’m finding it harder and harder to put to one side the difference in Animal Welfare of being a Vegetarian vs. Carnivore.

Is it really “Ethical” just being a vegetarian or do things need to be taken to the next stage and to cut out anything that has been produced by animals? Even our local, organic cows are under strict guidelines to produce enough milk per cow, live between a certain age, be a certain sex and live on a certain diet. Do we as vegetarians contribute towards the death of millions of these cows?

There do seem to be a lot of question marks I’ve used, this is because I would love to spark a discussion and see what my followers really think about Vegetarianism in relation to Animal Welfare.

Lets start the discussion……

Message: I have read your arguments about using the word “ethical”. So you know all the facts, and feel guilty about the use of dairy products. You support the dairy industry which is 100% unethical and extremely cruel. Because of your continuing use of dairy products (organic or otherwise is still wrong) you must be pushing the trade description act pretty close. There is no third way, you either support the meat and dairy industry (which you do) or you become vegan. Until then I suggest you change the name of your website etc and add the letters “u” and “n” to the beginning. You should make the change for the better and become ethical by taking one simple step and send out a clear message to the meat and dairy industry…go vegan. No more excuses.
