For those of you who have not heard of “The People’s Supermarket” it’s a volunteer run supermarket that has been set up in London. The process from start to finish was documented on Channel 4, which if you haven’t seen you must, heres the link.
Last week I visited the supermarket and was given the grand tour of the building to see how it operates. The one thing that really impressed me was that all the surplus food that would have otherwise been wasted was used in their kitchen and sold at lunchtime.
The reason I am blogging about this is that I have been given the opportunity to see if I can generate an interest in setting up a supermarket of our own here in cardiff so the first step I have made is to set up a Mailing List to start collecting peoples email addresses who are keen to be involved.
